By profession I am a Garden Designer and as such I take my love of colour and texture; straight lines and curves into creating beautiful outside spaces that are a reflection of both the house and the owner. Creating gardens that give people joy is most rewarding.
I have been a part of Simply Art since its inception in 2001 and have thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials and different media. However I have always come back to the expressive quality of a palette knife and the speed of acrylic paints.
The main aim of my paintings is to grasp the viewer through the expressive nature of the eyes, even if they are unseen. Eyes can follow you around the room, make you smile or encourage you to think about the life going on behind them. It really is for the viewer to make up their own mind.
Limiting the use of colour both in the portrait and in the background gives the portrait a more contemporary feel and frees them from the traditional expectations of a portrait.
